Action Overview

The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, representing more than 7,000 members nationwide, urges the Government to make mental health a central priority in Budget 2027. As demand for mental health supports continues to grow, prudent investment in counselling and psychotherapy offers an opportunity to improve access to care, strengthen workforce capacity and reduce long-term pressures across the health system.

We are seeking your help to ensure that counselling and psychotherapy are represented in Budget 2027. Please use the platform to send a customised email to your constituency representatives of the Oireachtas to voice your support for the IACP's 2027 pre-budget submission priorities.

We have drafted a sample letter that you may edit to your liking or feel free to write your own letter.

There is strength in numbers, and with your support, we can work together to ensure that counselling and psychotherapy funding is prioritised in Budget 2027.

The IACP’s Budget 2027 Priorities:

1. Make counselling and psychotherapy more affordable through VAT reform.
2. Improve access to mental health support through tax relief.
3. Invest in early intervention by permanently expanding school counselling.
4. Protect public safety through regulation of AI mental health tools.
